3 River Birch Trees - 18-24" Tall Live Plants - Bareroot Seedlings - Betula nigra

Characterized by it's unique curling bark and sprawling limbs, River Birch will thrive most anywhere that they are planted. Prized for their rapid growth and relative resistance to birch bore, these graceful giants can reach a height of 70'. They are tolerant of both moderate flooding and drought conditions. River Birch will attract songbirds and be a lovely shade providing addition to your property! Includes 2 bareroot trees to ensure survival of at least one plant should one fail to thrive.

This tree grows at a medium to fast rate, with height increases of anywhere from 13" to more than 24" per year. Full sun and partial shade are best for this tree, meaning it prefers a minimum of four hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day. The river birch grows to a height of 40–70' and a spread of 40–60' at maturity. The river birch can be expected to grow in Hardiness Zones 4–9. Full sun and partial shade are best for this tree, meaning it prefers a minimum of four hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day.

To plant, soak the tree for 3-6 hours after unpacking, prior to planting. Dig a large hole, removing all grass in a 3' radius. Plant the tree at the same approximate depth that it was planted at the farm and partially fill the hole, firming the soil around the roots. Do not add soil amendments such as peat, bark, fertilizer, potting soil or chemicals to the hole. Shovel in the remaining soil. It should be firm but not tightly packed. Give the tree plenty of water. After the water has soaked in, spread mulch two inches deep in a 3-foot area around the base of the tree, but not touching the trunk. The soil and mulch around your trees should be kept moist but not soggy. During dry weather, water the tree every 7 to 10 days during the first year. Water slowly.
