***The amount of light determines lighter or darker colors of the purple sheen based on customer preference. This means the more full sun they receive the less of the dark purple that will be dominant.** Since these are fresh out of a bright greenhouse, their color will be lighter but will darken when you plant them in the appropriate amount of light.

Strobilanthes dyerianus or Persian shield is a rarity: a foliage plant that features shiny, purple, and striking leaves. These are medium care plants. Please research the care you need to tend to these lovelies in your environment.

The leaves are iridescent and metallic in their hue and the plant height reaches to 4 feet tall in their favorable environment with a leaf length of up to 7 inches long! Upon maturity you may see a whole mix of purple, pink and silver. Underside of the leaves are purple. We provide care sheets for what works with us upon request but continued research of these plants within your area and zone would be best advice as these are medium care plants.

Plants are versatile in almost any kind of soil but you will be rewarded greatly by your plant with planting the Persian in rich potting soil. Fertilize, after established, outside about every month with half diluted mixture. Water outside like you would when you water the rest of your plants. The plant performs well in a container inside or outside, in full sun to partial shade. Provide even moisture and high humidity. The best way to give extra humidity to a Persian shield indoors is to place a thin layer of rocks in a saucer and balance the pot on top. Keep the saucer full of water- these plants love humidity.

Plants may take up to 2 weeks to destress and acclimate to your environment- please be patient and you will be greatly rewarded :) Transition slowly to full sun if planting outside. You may want to place in a pot then graduate the pot to full sun over a couple of weeks. After that, they will be ok to plant in the ground in the final location.
