Acid to sandy soil. Will tolerate clay, dry, occasional flooding, road sale & wet sites.

A deciduous(seasonally loses leaves).

A upright, rounded, dense shrub with semi-evergreen, dark green, with leathery leaves. It has small waxy, persistent blue-gray fruit, which add winter interest and attracts many species of birds. Pleasantly aromatic.
