Product description

For sale is one Black Gum tree that is 6-12" tall shipped in a quart pot. Easily grown in average, medium to wet soils in full sun to partial shade. Prefers moist acidic soils. Tolerates poorly drained soil and can grow in standing water. A stately tree with a straight trunk and rounded crown typically grows 30-50' tall with a spread of 20-30'. Small greenish white flowers give way to shinny slightly toothed leaves and small dark blue fruit attractive to birds and wildlife. Spectacular scarlet fall colors. Suggested use shade tree, street tree or focal point. Hardy in zones 3-9, does best in full sun to partial shade.

Planting instructions included.

CALIFORNIA orders are shipped bare root due to restrictions on soil.

One of the most attractive native trees around. Summer leaves are a dark green with a high-gloss appearance, but the most spectacular part of this tree is the fall foliage with many shades of yellow, orange, bright red, purple or scarlet that may appear on the same branch. Bark matures to medium gray and resembles alligator hide. Fruit is bluish-black and is loved by many birds. Makes a strong specimen tree. Grows 30'-50' high, with a 20'-30' spread.
